Vibe-coded apps are a genuine shortcut to a working demo. The problem starts when the demo quietly becomes the product, with real customers, real payments and personal data flowing through code nobody has read.
The five gaps we see most often
- Secrets and API keys committed to the repository or shipped to the browser.
- No access control on the server — the app trusts whatever the client sends.
- No backups, and no tested way to restore one.
- No logging, so a failure is discovered by a customer.
- Dependencies nobody has checked or updated since the first prompt.
Harden it before you rebuild it
You rarely need to throw the prototype away. A short technical review tells you which parts are sound, which need hardening, and which should be rewritten before they carry real traffic. That is usually weeks of work, not months.
